Triton, Byron, Hayfield XC compete at ZMKW Invite

Triton, Byron, and Hayfield all competed at the ZMKW Invitational last week.
Leading the Byron men’s team was  Koren Wieme who finished 8th with a time of 18:02, Mathias Zoellner who finished 15th  with a time of 18:14, Westley Burrows finished 21st with a time of 18:43, and Zachary Pieper finished 22nd with a time of 18:44.

George Alan Halverson, 69, Byron

George Alan Halverson, 69, of Byron, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He was born on September 25, 1955, in Estherville, Iowa to Parker and Virginia (George) Halverson. He graduated from Fairmont High School in 1974. He attended Mankato State University, earning his bachelor's degree in 1978. George and Vicky (Schneier) Halverson were married on August 26, 1978.

Lynda Goodman, Mantorville

Lynda Goodman, Mantorville, MN, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024. There will be a Celebration of Life on October 12th from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm at the Mantorville Saloon.

City officials mostly mum following private meeting about DC Ambulance’s future

The future of the Dodge Center Ambulance has been a point of discussion for several months for city officials from Claremont, Kasson, Dodge Center, and Mantorville, the communities’ part of the Dodge Center Ambulance Primary Service Area.
With issues related to funding, the discussions have centered around the potential creation of a taxing district, to be able to raise and appropriate the needed funds to keep the ambulance going.

Byron sets preliminary levy

The Byron City Council set its preliminary maximum levy, at its most recent meeting, which would not change the tax rate.
“Staff met with the Finance Committee to review the proposed preliminary budget and levy numbers for 2025,” Finance Director Cami Reber wrote in a memo. “After discussion and review, it is our recommendation to set the proposed levy for 2025 at $5,954,067.”
