Kennedy to headline new summer event in Steele County

As Steele County Fair officials put the finishing touches on the inaugural Spring into Summer festival, Dodge County native and Voice participant Cori Kennedy will be performing on Friday night. Spring into Summer will take place May 29-30 at the fairgrounds in Owatonna.

Hopeful endurance

Imagine a plant that keeps growing during an extreme environmental condition. An example of this might be a cactus that continues to grow in the blistering heat of the Mojave Desert.

Katherine Rose Finne, 84, West Concord

Katherine “Kat” Rose Finne, 84, of West Concord, died on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at W.A.L.T Home in Rochester.
Kat was born November 26, 1941, in Owatonna, the daughter of Raymond and Myrtle (Phelps) Dengler. She graduated from West Concord High School in 1959.
She met Lynn Finne cruising the streets of “Finne-ville” in West Concord, and the two were married on April 18, 1964, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in West Concord.

Edward C. Louks, 63, Rochester


Ed passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He served in the United States Navy for 13 years and in the Navy Reserves for two years. He was very proud to have served his country. He also worked at Walmart South for 27 years as a manager and later in the liquor store. He always had an amazing happy attitude that reflected onto co-workers and his customers.
He was loved by everyone.
