Exercising as you age can be challenging. Sometimes it can feel like your body is breaking down. One possible reason for this could be senescent cells, which build up in your body as you get older and contribute to age-related disorders.
A recent study by Mayo Clinic shows that exercise and other physical activities can reduce the number of senescent cells.

ROCHESTER, Minn. — Earlier research showed that primary care clinicians using AI-ECG tools identified more unknown cases of a weak heart pump, also called low ejection fraction, than without AI. New study findings published in Mayo Clinic Proceedings: Digital Health suggest that this type of screening is also cost-effective in the long term, especially in outpatient settings.

Joyce Redfern and Dee Tolleson from Kasson, started playing the card game Bridge with others in 1957. At first they met at players’ homes and now they meet each Tuesday afternoon at the Kasson Library. Joyce and Dee are the only members of the original group that are still living but they enjoy being part of this card group. There were 18 women playing this week with three tables for bridge and another group playing pinochle.

Byron girls basketball player Madison Ohm was recently honored by her teammates after scoring her 1,000 career point.

Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball players Keigan Cummings and Makenzie Carrier were recognized at the Jan. 27 K-M school board meeting, after scoring 1,000 career points. Also recognized was head coach Ryan Haraldson, who recently won his 350 game for K-M girls basketball.

After being tied at half time, the Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team defeated Hastings 68-49 last week.

The Hayfield/ Schaeffer Academy girls basketball team defeated Fillmore Central 64-57 to start its week of basketball last week.

In last week’s DCI on B4 a caption under photo the senior night photo inadvertently listed wrestlers for Kasson-Mantorville who earned 100 wins. The caption was incorrect.
