Hayfield's Amber Ziegler and Hadley Doman run side by side in the final  stretch of the 400 meter dash.  Hadley ran the 3200  meter later in the day  setting a new school record of 12:06.23.  The record of 12:09.12 was  previously held by Sara Halverson in 2001.

The Kasson-Mantorville baseball team won its senior night game against Goodhue last week 12-2. 
 
The KoMets took an early 2-0 lead, and then scored another four in the bottom of the second. 
 
In the top of the fourth Goodhue cut the lead to 6-2 before the KoMets scored another four, and one in the fifth and sixth. 
 

Beatrice Irene Conrad, 92, Santa Barbara, CA (formerly of Dodge Center)

Beatrice Irene Conrad was born January 6, 1933, in Dodge Center, MN to Marvin and Charlotte (Langworthy) Lindahl. She grew up the only girl between two brothers, Robert (Bob), her older brother and Merwin, her younger brother. As a toddler Merwin was unable to say "Beatrice," he called her "Reenie." So she went by Irene after that and continued to do so for the rest of her life.

Byron man charged with electronic child solicitation

A Byron man appeared in Olmsted County District Court, last week on felony charges of electronic child solicitation, electronic communication with a child involving sexual conduct and electronically distributing sexual conduct material to a child.
According to court records William Douglas Pirkl, 48, entered not guilty pleas on all charges on April 24, and was released from detention on a non-cash bond on April 25.

K-M 3rd graders help Kasson ‘Laundry Love’ project

“Service learning” is something that Kasson-Mantorville third grade teacher Allison Whalen wants her students to learn.
Laundry Love in Kasson is a new project started by a group of volunteers including Pastor Kristen Schlauderaff of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Its aim is to provide a little help to those people who are finding that the cost of doing their laundry at a laundromat can be difficult, especially for a family.

Glen Travis, 89, Dodge Center

Glen Travis, 89, of Dodge Center passed away on April 25, 2025. Glen is survived by the love of his life, Sally, along with his son Barry Travis and daughter Sarah Geving. He was blessed with five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Charles (Chuck) Avery, 83, Austin

Charles (Chuck) Avery, 83, of Austin, formerly of Clarks Grove, passed away April 22, 2025 at his home after being diagnosed with a glioblastoma brain tumor on April 9, 2025. Chuck was born on March 12, 1942. He was the son of Lloyd and LaVonne (Pederson) Avery.
