Canisteo Township Notice of Annual Meeting, Election of Officers & Board of Canvass

Notice is hereby given to the voters of Canisteo Township, County Dodge, State of Minnesota; That the annual election of township officers and the Annual Township Meeting will be held on, Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at the township hall.
In the event of inclement weather, the meeting and the election will be postponed until the third Tuesday of March-March 15, 2016- same hours.

BREAKING NEWS: FIREFIGHTERS BATTLING HOUSE FIRE WEST OF KASSON

Around 7:45 p.m. Kasson fire department was called to a sturcture fire at Eli and Kelly Fjerstad farm on County Hwy. 34 west of Kasson. When Kasson fire department arrived, the structure was fully engulf and small explosions were heard. A near back hoe became fully engulf. There were concerns for a nearby LP tank approximately 20 feet from the fire. 
Mutal aid was requested from the Dodge Center and Mantorville fire departments. 

K-M CAPTURES STATE WRESTLING TITLE!

K-M CAPTURES STATE WRESTLING TITLE!
For the second time in four years, the state wrestling title is in the hands of Kasson-Mantorville.
K-M captured the 2016 Class AA wrestling championship Thursday night in St. Paul by easily defeating Foley 37-21. 
The KoMets also won the state title in 2013.

Elmquist resigns as county administrator

Dodge County commissioners will begin the search for a new county administrator after the resignation of Jim Elmquist was accepted at Tuesday’s board meeting.
Elmquist, who has served as county administrator for the past six years, is taking a new position as the city administrator in Crest Hill, Illinois. His last day on the job will be March 16.

Kasson family chosen for new Habitat for Humanity home

For Cassie Van Every, getting out of the hospital cannot come soon enough, not only because she is missing her family, but also because her family will be one step closer to moving into a brand new, bigger home. 
Cassie and her husband Jason have rented for eight years. Currently, they are renting a three bedroom and one bath home in Kasson, but that is not quite enough space for their five, soon to be six, children. 

Triton wins first playoff game since 2008-09

At the beginning of the season, first-year Triton boys basketball coach Zak Hanegraaf had a dilemma. Due to fall activities or injuries sustained in the first week of practice, three of his players that he had been counting on for minutes sustained injuries that would keep them out for the season.

KoMets claim second straight HVL Championship

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team earned their second consecutive HVL championship when they defeated Goodhue in the conference championship game on February 20. The win also gave the KoMets their second straight undefeated season in the HVL with a perfect 17-0 record.

KoMets send nine to state individual tournament

A week ago, the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team punched their ticket to the state tournament. With their victory over Albert Lea in the section championship, there was already going to be some KoMet pride in attendance when the team duals take place on Thursday morning.
However, this team has proven that they aren’t there just to take one trophy. They want to take the whole table with them.
