Six years ago the Triton Student Council came together and decided that they needed to do something to support the community when it comes to mental health issues.
After brainstorming the student led organization decided the best way would be to raise money for different organizations in the community that help support people who suffer from mental health issues and illnesses.

A local state representative is asking for the public’s help in saving an orphan deer near the site of a fatal car wreck that killed a teacher and her young daughter.

For about four years the Dodge County Youth Hockey Association, like many nonprofits have participated in charitable gambling. 
On July 30 members woke up to some of the worst news imaginable when they found out that $11,000 of their charitable gambling funds was stolen during a theft at Events Center in Kasson.

Marcella “Sally” M. Anderson, age 90 of Hayward, died Friday night, Oct. 5, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.
Marcella Marie Jensen was born Oct. 17, 1927, in rural Freeborn County, the daugh- ter of Walter and Anna (Nelson) Jensen. She received her education at a country school in Freeborn County. On Jan. 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Orris Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church near Bixby. 

When I was growing up I lived in an over 80,000-person city where the local school and city budgets were close to $200 million.
One of the things that I noticed was that often times people didn’t really pay attention to what was going on in the city unless it was going to directly impact them. 
When I came to Minnesota last June I quickly realized how important being an informed citizen is for small town communities. 

In the hectic world we live in today, it’s easy to get caught up in everything and forget about the significance or importance of someone or, in this case, something.
I even find myself falling victim to not appreciating things as much as I should from time to time. I think it’s easy to underestimate and undervalue the importance of the local community newspaper. 

The funeral service for Albert Martin Henry Jech will be at 12 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 12, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.  Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Elkton, MN.  Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 11 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour before the service at the chapel on Friday.

Throughout the season, the Kasson-Mantorville volleyball team has been focused on taking things one game at a time and continuing to get better. As the games and the victories piled up for the KoMets, there was one game at the end of the schedule that kept getting bigger and bigger.
