I’ll bet you never thought you would see a headline like this: “Summer is canceled.”
While that may be a little stretch of the imagination, it’s beginning to look like it isn’t far off.
As much as I look forward to summers in Minnesota, I must admit I am not with this upcoming summer.

Bonnie Baxter, 79, passed away on May 1, 2020. She was born in Hayfield, MN on September 24th, 1940
She is survived by her children Andrea Landry, Heidi (Jim) Stansbury and Chris (Esme) Baxter, siblings Les (Donna) Evjen, Pam (Joe) Nolan, Ron (Mapuana)Evjen, Carol (Denny) Dore in addition to many nieces and nephews.                                 

Carol Ann Larsen died of natural causes on April 4, 2020, at the age of 84.Jesus gathered her up in his arms and delivered her to that great garden in the sky where she can dig in the dirt to her heart's content and until the rest of us can join her.She was born in Red Lake Falls on Dec. 18, 1935, and grew up in Plummer, MN. There she married her first husband Robert Dube and moved to Williston, ND and they had five children.

Alice E. Redman, 81, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2020, at the Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center. 
Alice Elsie Martha Tabbert was born to Henry Tabbert and Selma Kelm-Tabbert on July 22, 1938 in Round Grove Township (near Stewart MN).

After helping his team reach the state tournament and only losing one senior off last year’s team, Hayfield left fielder Kolby Tapp would rather be striving for another shot at winning state, but at least this pandemic won’t end his baseball career.
            He recently chose to continue his playing career and studies at Riverland Community College in Austin.

After being cooped up inside for the past month and a half, this past weekend’s fishing opener was a breath of fresh air for tons of Minnesotans.
To keep fishermen and women healthy, Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Sarah Strommen urges anglers to use good judgment when choosing where to fish this season.

A lot has been taken away from the Byron High School seniors, but now thanks to the Byron American Legion they have something they can call their own.
The legion, represented by Finance Officer Gordy Bishop and Commander Carl Dewaard, presented Byron High School Principal Malia Schroeder and Superintendent Dr. Joey Page with a tribute to the senior Class of 2020 featuring just over 130 American flags, one for each senior.

Thresia Irene Heimerman, age 92 of Blooming Prairie, passed away Monday, April 27, 2020 at Prairie Manor in Blooming Prairie.
On Feb. 24, 1928, Thresia was born to Joseph and Catherine (Fischer) Schmidt in Stacyville, Iowa. She attended country school until 8th grade. On Sept. 25, 1946, Thresia married John Heimerman at St. Peter’s Church in Rose Creek, and they had nine children.
