A melodrama played out last Tuesday afternoon at the Kasson-Manorville Minnesota Wifi Performing Arts Center. It was the conclusion a two-year drama that began in 2018 when a domestic dispute ended with a woman killing her husband.

Michael John Hillestad, age 55, died peacefully at his home in Rochester on May 4, 2020. He had been on hospice care battling cancer since November 2017.

It is with much sadness that we announce that Paul Tilford Thronsonpassed away August 8 after a long illness.  
Paul was a loving husband to wife Joan and stepfather to sons Karl and Cristopher Kelly, anduncle to many nieces and nephews. He was born July 29, 1944 inAustin to Minnie and Tilford Thronson.  
He had a sister Joyce and brother Gary (all deceased).  

Gary Glawe likes to joke that he grew up in Mantorville, which was a town of 874 people during his youth, but now he manages a building that seats close to 40,000.
The 1995 Kasson-Mantorville High School graduate said he has his dream job as senior director of facilities for the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
“Boy, it would be tough to beat,” he said. “I’m very happy.”

The price tag for fixing the Historic Wall in Kasson has come down substantially, but the question still remains about whether to fix it or demolish it.
The Park and Recreation Commission was scheduled to discuss the limestone wall during its Tuesday, Aug. 18 meeting. It was expected to forward a recommendation onto the City Council, which should hear the issue either Aug. 26 or Sept. 9.
