“I love to tell stories,” local author Terry Eckstein said. His mind is full of plots that twist and turn in and around Mantorville and he’s anxious to get them written down. He has a “day” job that pays the bills with remote staff under his employ but Eckstein yearns for the day when he can leave this business behind and the typing of tales becomes his full-time job.

The Triton/K-W/Hayfield Girls Soccer team didn’t have the results the team was looking for in its opening matchup against Caledonia last Thursday.
Despite the 7-0 loss, Head Coach Jeremy Himli still found some positives.
Thursday night we played at Caledonia in the season opener. We lost 7-0.

In its opening game of the season, the matchup between the Kasson-Mantorville/Triton KoMeTs boys soccer team and the Faribault Falcons ended in a 0-0 tie last Thursday.
A rule change last year ended overtime for high school regular season games.
One highlight Head Coach Shawn Bromelkamp pointed to was KoMeT keeper Riley Mitchell who he said “played a great game, with seven saves to go along with the shutout.”

The Byron Cross Country teams participated in a scrimmage versus Pine Island ahead of the official 2024 cross country season. The first meet of the season for Byron will be on Thursday at Stewartville against 23 other teams. Pictured is Avery Warndahl with Ashlynn Mitchell on her shoulder.
 
 

Chateau Speedway hosted the Stringer Attachments Friday Night Racing event last week and had all six classes active for another weekend of fun at the races.
There were many exciting finishes, but the most notable mix-up came in the Hanson Tire WISSOTA Midwest Mods division, where brothers Kadden and Kullen Kath both surpassed 1,000 points on the season.

In 1965 Kasson celebrated the 100th anniversary of the founding of the city. Cyrus McCormick sold reapers and the company was known as McCormick Harvesting Machine Company. In 1902 two harvesting companies merged to form the International Harvester Company. Brewer Implement was the oldest McCormick dealer in Kasson starting in 1868 with three Brewer family generations operating the implement business.
