KoMeTs boys soccer starts season with tie

In its opening game of the season, the matchup between the Kasson-Mantorville/Triton KoMeTs boys soccer team and the Faribault Falcons ended in a 0-0 tie last Thursday.
A rule change last year ended overtime for high school regular season games.
One highlight Head Coach Shawn Bromelkamp pointed to was KoMeT keeper Riley Mitchell who he said “played a great game, with seven saves to go along with the shutout.”
“ The KoMeTs had opportunities that just didn’t fall, including a last second goal that was called back due to being (barely) offsides,” Bromelkamp told the DCI after the game.
Despite the loss Bromelkamp knows his team faced off against a competitive team on the pitch.
“While not the exact result we were looking for, it was a strong start against a solid team; Faribault had defeated the KoMeTs twice last season, including in the playoffs,” Bromelkamp wrote in an email.
Next up is a Tuesday matchup again section and conference opponent Byron.
