Triton wins opening meet

Triton track and field kicked off its 2026 season with a strong start, winning its indoor meet last week at Mankato State University.
On the boys side, the Cobras won the meet which featured six other southeast Minnesota schools.
The boys team scored 114 points, 37 points more than the second best JWP/WEM.
Hayfield finished the meet in sixth place with a score of 42.

Doman sets school track record

Hayfield runner Hadley Doman broke the indoor school record in the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:36.46 in the team’s first meet of the season last week. The previous record was set by Kathleen Freiheit in 2007 with a time of 5:45.3.

School Board honors state champ

The Triton School Board honored Adriana Kunz for winning the MSHSL girls wrestling state championship for the second year in a row. She won the 112 pound weight class.

NRHEG shocks Vikings with second half rally

The Hayfield/Schaeffer Academy girls basketball team’s season came to an end last week, after losing to NRHEG 64-62 in the Section 1A championship game.
Despite trailing 37-32 at halftime and losing leading scorer Camryn VanMaldeghem to an injury late in the first half, NRHEG still found a way to rally and outscore the Vikings 32-25 in the final 18 minutes to shock the Vikings.

Wildcats’ state tourney  run comes to quick end

The Dodge County boys hockey team’s season came to an end last week after two games at the Class A State tournament in the Twin Cities.
The opening round game against top-seeded Hibbing/Chisholm was a 0-0 game at the end of the first period.
In the second period, Hibbing/Chisholm scored three goals to take a 3-0 lead going into the third period.
Both teams traded goals, and Hibbing/Chisholm picked up the 4-1 win.
