To the Editor:
I read with great interest the minutes of the last Dodge County Board of Commissioners meeting (dated November 22, 2022 — 5:00 PM) and their discussion of giving themselves a raise.
Commissioners do not get cost of living increases (there’s a reason for that).

As the we move into the Christmas season it is apparent that the Holiday Spirit is alive and well in Dodge County.

There was a time in most of our lives that deciding what to do was easy. We had jobs, families, and responsibilities so our schedules were pre-arranged. We had a job to go to, deadlines to meet, and kids to either pick up or drop off. It was often hectic, but we seldom wondered what we should do today, our busy lives dictated where we had to be and when. 

We have a story on the front page of this week’s DCI about the successful opening of the Chaotic Good Brewing Co. taproom in the former Kasson car wash building. The taproom, which includes pizza ovens, opened for business at the location on November 15.

It is December, and this is Minnesota, so why are we often surprised that it is getting colder? Yet every year when the temperatures begin to drop, we complain about how cold it is. Our initial fear is the first frost that will kill our outdoor flowers. In the late fall, we battle back by covering plants or taking pots into the garage for protection.

Here we are in the month on December. This is indeed, the most wonderful time of the year! The boys and girls are all excited. The mothers and dads are busily getting everything ready. The tree will soon be trimmed, and the stockings will be hanging over the mantle.
