For years, newspapers have survived from a business model of subscriptions and advertising revenue, mostly from businesses.
The old conventional wisdom that newspaper publishers have operated under for decades is that subscriptions pay for the postage and printing of the newspaper and advertising covers everything else from payroll to keeping the lights on.

It seems like every time we turn around these days, there’s another disruption to the 2024 election season.
The attempted assassination of one presidential candidate and the withdrawal of another may leave people feeling uncertain, wary, maybe even a little bit afraid. But one thing we know for sure is that election officials and workers across Dodge County are prepared to oversee safe and secure elections on Aug. 13 and Nov. 5.

We, as a newspaper, have one obligation: to inform the public, hold officials accountable, and to help with public discourse.
