Blooming Prairie native Elisa “Lisi” Wright has always had a love for music and started to pursue it at the young age of five when she began taking violin lessons with Marlyn Shroeder. 

The Kasson-Mantorville-Triton Komets competed in their first ever sectional tournament last Saturday, and there were definitely some highlights for the first-timers. 
The Section 1A event was hosted by Austin High School and included 10 teams. Though the Komets placed 10 of 10, with an overall score of 121.425, the gymnasts performed well in their first section tournament.

Walking with a cane in hand is about the only way Jonathan Isenor can get around these days. It’s a far cry from the way he was able to maneuver while acting on stage in high school and college. 
Isenor, who grew up in Blooming Prairie, went on to St. Cloud State University where he majored in theatre. He worked for a while at a theatre company in the Twin Cities and eventually went on to get his law degree and become an attorney.

Mayor H. Peterson will take the helm of the Minnesota Mayors Association on April 15 in White Bear Lake. He is currently first vice president.
In his mayor’s comments at the regular Blooming Prairie City Council meeting on Monday, Feb. 9, Peterson said he was a presenter at a meeting of the Association on Jan. 23 to welcome new mayors to office.

Carnival rides, fair food and entertainment may not be the only things greeting fairgoers at this year’s Steele County Fair. A smoking ban may be added to that list if one group gets its way.

I’ve mentioned them several times over the past month or so but once again the cast and crew of the Triton One Act Play deserve a mention.

The Corridors of Commerce bill that will include funding for completing work on Highway 14 through Dodge County is moving ahead at the state legislature, area U.S. Highway 14 Partnership members learned recently.
As they visited legislators recently, they were pleased to learn that their bill, HF 282, which funds the Corridors of Commerce program, was slated to be the first bill addressed by the House Transportation Committee.

Members of the cast and crew of Triton’s One Act Play took top honors last week in the Class A One Act Play Festival as they were one of five troupes to earn a “starred performance” rating.
They also received the Spotlight on the Arts Award of Excellence. This is a fine arts recognition award created by Wells Fargo, the League’s premier sponsor in cooperation with the MSHSL.

A woman from the Twin Cities has died in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 35 in Steele County.
The State Patrol has identified the victim as Diane Evenson, 66, of Minneapolis. She died at the scene of the crash on I-35 at Hoffman St. in Owatonna Saturday afternoon.
