A Wednesday night fire at Johnson Hardware in Dodge Center caused extensive damage to the building.
Dodge Center Fire Department was called to the location about 7 p.m. for reports of smoke coming from the building, Fire Chief Jeremy Dostal said.

Troye Jay Kiefer, beloved son, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was born in Hazelton, ND in 1925, where his parents and grandparents had farmed since 1902. Family life growing up there was farm life, and it was in his blood. Troye was the eldest of 4 children—followed by sisters, Janice and Dolores, and brother, Duane. Childhood work on the farm gave way to approaching adulthood.

Andrew Lechuga Salinas, a man convicted of killing Claremont Police Chief Greg Lange, was denied parole for a fifth time during a hearing in St. Paul on Friday afternoon.
 
The Review Board voted 3-2 to continue for two years before another hearing would occur.  
 

For more than a year the West Concord Ambulance has relied on Dodge Center Ambulance to provide daytime coverage for its ambulance.
Under state law, ambulances are required to have two people available at all times, in order to be considered a transport service, something West Concord struggled with due to a lack of volunteers during the day who were able to commit to leaving for large periods of time.

Once a week, I meet for coffee with some retired teachers. Two of the group are real car guys. They have several classic cars between them. We started to talk about the cars most people drive today and the ones we grew up with and the changes between then and now.
