Two weeks ago, Illinois-based News Media Corp. abruptly shuttered every one of its newspapers, stunning dozens of communities across Arizona, Illinois, Nebraska, South Dakota and Wyoming.

The Kasson-Mantorville School Board on Monday approved its newly developed school board handbook, which included making the clerk the acting chair in the event of the board chair and vice chair’s absence.
KM currently does not appoint a vice chair.
But during the meeting, Clerk Kate Ryan didn’t serve as the chair, despite School Board Chair Mark Torkelson’s absence.

The odds are high that at some point in life just about everyone will become a “caregiver” for someone else.

Debra Jean (Ketchum) Nicklay, 73, of Owatonna, MN, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at Birchwood Cottages in Owatonna. Debra was born on March 14, 1952, in Owatonna to Gordon and Nova (Kiefer) Ketchum. She was united in marriage on August 6, 1976, to Timothy Nicklay. Together they had five children, Rebecca, Eric, Nathan, Brandon, and Valerie.
