Once a year, the Steele County Agricultural Society calls a meeting of the whole to evaluate the latest county fair and look to the year ahead.
The annual report on the county fair showed that, while attendance was down from previous years due to rain on every day of the fair, there was still a net profit of $34,520.78 after subtracting expenses and major improvement costs.

While the teams are still in the process of being finalized, we now know that Steele County will be represented by at least one high school football player for the upcoming Minnesota Football Showcase All-Star game. 

Doctors were confident that they removed enough that there was a minimal chance of microscopic cancer cells being left behind. The next step for Alicia Fjerstad was daily radiation and a chemo pill for five weeks. 

“To serve and unify the community by using our talents to benefit others as well as ourselves,” is the mission statement that a group of Kasson-Mantorville High School students wrote together. 
These students are part of the Community Actions class, taught by Lori Pagel. 

In a 4-1 vote, the Dodge County Board approved moving forward with a Comprehensive Land Use Management Plan for 2017. 
The county has not had a new comprehensive plan for about 16 years. Ron Ziegler from CEDA, the organization that would build this plan, estimated that the project could be done in about one year, starting in late 2016. The cost of the project would not exceed $49,516. 

Over the course of the season, Kasson-Mantorville volleyball coach Adam VanOort has believed that he’s overseen a special team. With loads of talent on the roster and a youthful energy, he’s seen a team that has played so well that he believes that a section championship isn’t out of reach.

The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton cross country team will have a representative at the state meet for the second straight year as Brennan Gustafson qualified with a sixth-place finish in the boys race at the Section 1AA Meet in Owatonna on October 27.

The previous meeting between the Stewartville and Kasson-Mantorville football team on September 23 has to be considered on a short list when you think of games of the year in Southeastern Minnesota. On that night, an undefeated KoMets squad took a 21-0 lead only to see it vanish as Andrew Quandt hit Nick Thiel on a touchdown pass with eight seconds remaining to allow the Tigers to escape KMTelecom Stadium with a 33-28 victory.
