K-M class works together to make a difference
“To serve and unify the community by using our talents to benefit others as well as ourselves,” is the mission statement that a group of Kasson-Mantorville High School students wrote together.
These students are part of the Community Actions class, taught by Lori Pagel.
“We talk a lot about attitude of service,” Pagel said. “What does it feel like? How can you portray what you want to do? We came up with a class mission statement. We had to define community and service before we came up with our mission statement.”
The definitions and mission statements written by the class lead them through their quarter-long class of service. Students also listen to guest speakers during the class. Students take part in community service proj
