Christopher McKern grew up near Chesaning, MI, which is about 25 miles from Saginaw, with a brother, a sister and an adopted sister from Columbia. His father worked in a meat packing plant and their mother was a nurse. Chris attended a private Lutheran High School in Saginaw, (near Lake Huron), staying in the school dormitory and playing baseball.
City Hall in West Concord is closed this week due to a confirmed case of COVID-19 and
exposure among staff, City Administrator Mike Plante announced. City offices are closed
through Friday, Nov. 20.
Meetings scheduled for this week, including the City Council and Municipal Liquor Store
public hearing Thursday night, have been cancelled and will be rescheduled.
Many strange things have occurred in 2020. Nothing compares to what recently popped up in Wisconsin. A snowmobile was being transported on Highway 63 in northwest Wisconsin when the vehicle carrying to sled was pulled over.
Rollins “Bim” E. Juhnke, Jr., 89, St. Paul, passed away on Oct. 31, 2020
He was born on April 25, 1931, in Rochester to Marian and Rollins Juhnke, Sr.
Bim grew up in Kasson and graduated from Kasson High School in 1949.
Goodhue
A Monday night game at Kasson against Goodhue left KoMet fans thrilled. This game was Senior Night and the KoMets recognized all of their seniors: Anna Braun, Maddy Cummings, Avery Irish, Olivia Matuska, Shae Sands, Mya Suess and Noelle Vanoort.
Opening up a beautiful night of football in November, the Kasson-Mantorville football team took a moment of silence to remember former teammate, Aidan Hegge. Hegge passed away this past summer, on July 27. Junior classmates, Sean Inman and Thomas Jensen, presented his blue and white game jerseys, where they were placed on the KM team bench with the team.
Philip Scholer grew up in Rochester with a brother and sister and attended John Marshall High School. He said he was too small for football and had an interest in gymnastics but really enjoyed art class using acrylic paints and working on a variety of types of paintings. His family did a lot of camping so they would pack their gear and would head to the country many weekends and sleep under the stars.
