Harry Charles Marquardt, 92, of Hayfield, formerly of Dodge Center, passed away on Sunday May 16, 2021 at Fieldcrest Care Center in Hayfield. 
Harry was born on May 3, 1929 in Dodge County, to William and Alma (Burzlaff) Marquardt.  He attended country schools in Dodge County. He farmed all of his life in Dodge Center. On October 29, 1994 he married Arlinda Polaschek in Dodge Center. 

Our beautiful, kind, giving mother passed away peacefully on Monday, April 19, 2021, in Hayfield, from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease.

For the first year ever, Kasson’s varsity and junior varsity bowling teams both took 1st place in our bowling conference!
We are so thankful to have our amazing coaches who we owe everything to. Our varsity coaches are Al Houston and Mike Shaffer; our JV coach is Dan Ziebell.

Byron’s Girls Track Team traveled to Cannon Falls on Thursday, May 6, and then to Stewartville on Tuesday, May 11.  On Thursday the girls complied 135 points to Cannon Falls 28 and Lake City’s 11. On Tuesday in Stewartville, the girls amassed 94 points to Stewartville’s 48 to win the duel.

Kasson-Mantorville’s KoMets extended their win streak to three games Monday night when they faced the Goodhue Wildcats.
They went 2-1 in the weekend Dick Traen Memorial Wood Bat Classic in Delano. In three games they defeated the Concordia Academy Beacons and Rockford Rockets while losing to the Mound Westonka White Hawks.
In earlier games last week they lost to the Pine Island Panthers and the Byron Bears.
 

Mark Matuska was born in Olivia, Minn. during the huge March snowstorm of 1965. His father taught biology at Hector, Minn. and his mother stayed at home with his older sister. Both of Mark’s parents grew up in Jackson, Minn., and when his grandmother drove from Jackson to Olivia to visit him after his birth, Highway 71 only had one lane open due to the massive amount of snow.

Almost on a daily basis when watching the national TV media we hear calls for police reform, defund police departments, etc. in various cities. Shootings and deaths, carjacking, robberies, and other violence have really been on the increase in too many places across our country.

Thousands of dollars and nearly a hundred of hours in free counseling sessions remain unused at Fernbrook Family Center in Rochester.
