Victory tops busy Homecoming Week at K-M

Kasson-Mantorville High School celebrated Homecoming Week in style this past week, with dress-up days, all sorts of contests, a coronation ceremony, parade and pep fest.
Eli Herbst and Kaitlyn McNeil were crowned King and Queen before the big Homecoming parade on Oct. 6.

BREAKING NEWS: Authorities investigating possible tornado touchdown

The Dodge County Sheriff has confirmed his office is investigating a possible tornado touchdown Wednesday afternoon north of Claremont.
Sheriff Scott Rose told the DCI that emergency management director Matt Maas will be surveying damage with weather officials to determine if it was a tornado that touched down on the Kent Schmidt turkey farm about two miles north of Claremont near the Steele-Dodge border.

‘A hard target’

Sgt. Rich Allee was sending items through Dodge County’s new 3D security scanner last week when he found something interesting: a razor blade, stuck between two business cards.
The incident at the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office turned out to be innocuous, though the pocketbook’s owner was warned not to try and send such an item through again.

BREAKING NEWS: Man charged in Dodge Center murder

A Rochester man has been charged in connection with the drug overdose death of a Dodge Center man in early December.
Donte D’Andre Wilkins, 19, faces two counts of second-degree and third-degree murder in the death of Tyler Reed Gray. Wilkins appeared in Dodge County District Court Friday morning where the judge set bail at $250,000 unconditional or $125,000 with conditions.

News Update: State Patrol releases name in fatality

 
The State Patrol has identified the victim of Saturday’s fatal car crash west of Kasson as Stephanie Dawn Sholtz, 42, of Rochester. 
She was alone in the vehicle when it rolled over on U.S. Highway 14 near County Road 9. The patrol reports Sholtz was wearing her seat belt and no alcohol was involved. The roads were icy at the time of the crash, according to the patrol. 
 
 

BREAKING NEWS: FATAL CRASH NEAR KASSON

A 42-year-old woman from Rochester has died in a one vehicle rollover on U.S. Highway 14 west of Kasson. 
The State Patrol has not released the name of the woman pending notification of family. 
The rollover happened around 10 a.m. on Highway 14 just west of County Road 9. It appears the vehicle was traveling westbound, went off the road into the median and ended up flipped over on the eastbound side.

UPDATE: Explosion Rocks McNeilus Truck

An explosion rocked the McNeilus Truck Manufacturing facility in Dodge Center, Minn., Wednesday morning, resulting in four confirmed hospitalized individuals.
Emergency response units from around Dodge County were dispatched to the scene, in addition to two Mayo One air transports.
