It may not be in plain view, but homelessness affects people in southeast Minnesota, including Dodge County.
Across 20 southeast Minnesota counties, this area has the third highest number of people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Some have disabilities, others are experiencing domestic violence or have been homeless for a long time.

For the last couple of years, Kasson has been the center point of road construction. Last year a six-block area was closed all summer as new water and sewer lines were laid beneath a wider and redesigned Mantorville Ave.

We have a five-month-old grandchild in our lives, our first. Recently, he was sick with his first high fever. He was achy and congested and very, very crabby, which is not his nature.

It’s a strange time of year for sports. Even though it is early June, professional basketball and hockey are still finishing their seasons while 1/3 of the baseball season is already over. On a recent Sunday I could watch two USFL football games if I didn’t want to watch college softball, lacrosse, rugby, tennis, golf, NASCAR or girls barrel racing.

Recently, the U.S. Surgeon General released a report warning about the negative impacts of social media on children’s mental health, saying that it presents a profound risk of harm. The advisory also urged social media companies to help parents with the burden of managing the effects of social media on kids.

 “She’s too attractive, don’t hire her. She will cause all kinds of sexual harassment problems”, was said by an operations supervisor to me when I was a Human Resource Manager. The statement was made after the Ops manager had reviewed the applications the HR department had provided him after HR had selected the qualified candidates from the applicant pool.
