A quarter century ago, northern Minnesota native Chad Rolandson received a call informing him about a teaching opening in a small town called Byron.
His first reaction was, “Where’s that?”
Now, Rolandson is opening what he hopes will be his final chapter as the Bears’ activities director.

At just 15 years old, Cooper Worden, a sophomore at Kasson-Mantorville High School, has stepped into the spotlight as a director at the Mantorville Theater Company.
This summer, Worden led the production of “Whole Latte Love,” a comedic play set in a struggling coffee shop, bringing charm, humor and community spirit to the historic Mantorville Opera House.

A couple of years after the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, Kasson began hosting a 9/11 program.
But life happens, and a little over a decade ago, the program faded away—until now.
This year on Sept. 11, a program will be taking place at 6:30 p.m., organized by a newly formed committee.
Roberta Pogalz said she enjoyed the program for many years, and over the past few years, she wanted to bring it back.

Resurfacing of Highway 57 from Kasson to Mantorville is scheduled to begin Sept. 8, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Crews will be resurfacing Highway 57 from 16th Street in Kasson to the Zumbro River in Mantorville. This will provide a smoother ride for motorists. Work is expected to be completed by Oct. 6.

A former leader at the Kasson Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints accused of sexually assaulting a boy will not get a new trial, after a district court judge denied his petition.
Michael Adam Davis, now 41, asked for post-conviction relief and motion for a new trial in documents submitted in June.
Judge Debra A. Groehler, who is chambered in Dodge County, denied the requests in an order filed last week.
