Westfield Township delays action on planning, zoning

Westfield Township residents will have two more weeks to submit written comments on whether the township should establish its own planning and zoning regulations. At the end of the two weeks township supervisors will review all the information and will decide at a meeting in a month how they want to proceed.

Not just for play: Toy tractors a serious passion at FFA show

Tractors proved a powerful pull during the Blooming Prairie FFA’s 12th annual Toy Show, drawing curious shoppers from around the region on the last Saturday of winter.
Toy tractors, that is. And while they appeared to make up the bulk of the items sold in Blooming Prairie High School’s cafeteria March 14, other wares were available, including massage gift certificates and vintage magazines.

Triton eyes levy referendum for 2016

Triton School Board members need to be thinking about an operating levy referendum for fall 2016, Superintendent Brett Joyce told board members March 16.
The amount of money available to the district per pupil through tax levies dropped this year because a levy from 2003 that brought in $350 per student was allowed to expire. Levies are for 10 years unless they are renewed.
A second levy referendum expires in 2018.

Washington students go green for different reason

BP Lions Club gives donation to support athletes

Madison Worke, Taylor Hagen and John Rumpza will all have the honor of attending this year's Minnesota Basketball Coach Association's All Star games thanks, in part, to the Blooming Prairie Lions Club. 
While the talent and character of these three students is what certainly made them eligible for the invitation, the Lions Club will foot the bill for the weekends. 

Three Blossoms named All-Stars

Each year for the past 33, the Minnesota Boys Basketball Coaches Association has held an all-star basketball game, including 40 of the best senior players around the state. The GBCA has also held a game for 40 of the best senior girls around the state.

Marty Toquam, 56, Claremont

Marty Dale Toquam, 56, of Claremont, went home to heaven on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Northfield Hospital-Long Term Care Center with his family by his side.
