The Triton/Kenyon-Wanamingo/Hayfield girls soccer home opener versus Cannon Falls ended in a 1-1 tie last week.
“Romina Medina scored our goal with an assist from Haylie Budahn,” Head Coach Jeremy Himli wrote in an email. “Alyssa Knudson had 13 saves in goal. Junior Jade Scovill made her first career start. Defenders Olivia Weber, Courtney Chicos, RoseLyn Liudahl, and McKenzy Purinton played the entire 80 minutes.”

The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team was dominant from the beginning of its game against Plainview-Elgin-Millville, and by the end of the first half, the KoMets had all the goals they needed, in a 7-0 victory.
Leading the KoMets was Hailey Otterness who had three goals, along with Mackenzie Carrier who had two, Delaney Awe and Morgan Hausman each put a goal through the net during the game.

The Byron High School Athletic Hall of Fame will induct five new members and recognize a special team at their Sept. 21 Hall of Fame ceremony. This year’s event will be held at the high school commons with a social beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the ceremony commencing at 6 p.m. This event is open to the public.

If you live in the land of 10,000 lakes, you’ve probably gone fishing occasionally. Some 20+ years ago we bought a place in a campground near a lake and so our lake time increased dramatically. So did the amount of fishing gear I obtained over those same years. While shiny spoons, Rapalas, jigs, lures, and plastic worms offered no guarantee of catching fish, they were very efficient in catching suckers better known as fishermen.

John Foster Klickman, 93, of Kasson, MN passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at Mayo Clinic St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.
John was born on August 8, 1931, in Wasioja to John and Leona (Foster) Klickman. He married Juanita Wilson on July 27, 1957, in Portsmouth, VA. Together they had six children.

Donald Louis Subbert, 93, of Dodge Center, MN, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
