Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Bjornson, 93, of Rochester

Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Bjornson, 93, of Rochester, MN passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Madonna Towers in Rochester, MN.

Betty was born on July 21, 1932, in Olmsted County, MN to Oscar and Ethel (Scharberg) Bjornson.  She attended district #142 country school and graduated from Hayfield High School in 1950. She had one son, John Bjornson whom she loved dearly.

Betty retired from Burlington Railroad as their Senior Accountant.   She loved traveling, especially spending time in Florida.   She always wore a hat and was known for her extensive hat collection.

Betty is survived by her brother, Ardean (Carma) Bjornson; sister-in-law, Arlene Bjornson; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Bjornson; brothers, Lloyd Bjornson, Paul Bjornson, and infant brother; sisters, Ruth Keenan, Helen McEmber, and Mavis Nelson.   

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026, at West St. Olaf Lutheran Church, 70640 260th Ave in Hayfield, MN with Pastor Paul Thompson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to her service at the church. Inurnment will be in West St. Olaf Lutheran cemetery in Hayfield, MN.
