Win streak reaches eight for K-M girls

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team continues to win games as they earned their eighth straight victory last week. With the wins over Byron, New Prague and Kenyon-Wanamingo, the KoMets seem to have left their 1-3 start from the mirror and haven’t had a loss since a December 6 matchup against Simley. Since then, K-M has welcomed all comers from HVL rivals to top contenders in the state and look like a team focused on picking up where they left off a season ago.
The KoMets started their week with a matchup with New Prague. The two schools met in a state quarterfinal matchup at the tail end of the 2014-15 season, but the Trojans have since moved up in size to become a Class AAA school. Despite their 6-5 record coming into the game, they still posed a dangerous threat for the KoMets in what was expected to be a tight battle.
K-M would build an early lead through good half-court defense, strong rebounding and great shooting and took a 31-22 advantage into the locker room. Just as they had done a week ago against Winona standouts and Division 1 commits Eden Nibbelink and Danneka Voegeli, the KoMets did a great job against
