A wild pursuit involving a cement mixer

Absolutely crazy.
That’s the reaction of most people as they digested what took place in Dodge County over the weekend. 
A wild police chase involving a stolen cement mixer truck in the Kasson and Dodge Center area has folks buzzing all across the country. 
It turned out to be quite the Sunday afternoon spectacle for some folks enjoying the start of Holy Week in Dodge Center. A large cement truck made its way through residential neighborhoods, sometimes at a high rate of speed, as police units pursued. By the time it ended more than an hour later, the circus had finished without anyone getting hurt. Thank God! This had the makings of a real disaster. 
What makes this chase perhaps the most remarkable in the eyes of others is who was behind the wheel. It turns out an 11-year-old Dodge Center boy allegedly stole the truck, ripped around the county and reportedly even smiled at people as he drove by with the cops chasing him.

Police chases are inherently dangerous for obvious reasons. They put law enforcement officers at risk and the lives of innocent bystanders are often in jeopardy. And then there is the suspect driver who ends up being in danger as well. 
In Sunday’s Dodge County chase, a Kasson police cruiser was severely damaged when the driver allegedly rammed into the side of it. The officer is lucky to have not been seriously injured. 
For 72 minutes, the cement truck alluded authorities before finally coming to a stop in a cul-de-sac in Dodge Center. The State Patrol utilized its helicopter from the Twin Cities to monitor the chase from up above.
