Vintage bomber lands in Dodge

The quiet pristine skies over Dodge Center were quiet and peaceful until about 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning.   Suddenly the  distant drone of a single airplane engine was heard and initiated a line of planes from all over the Midwest.
One by one they began to circle in the bright blue yonder and land at the airstrip in Dodge Center.  Cessna, Cherokee, Fairchild.   And then the bell of the ball herself appeared in the eastern Minnesota skies.  From a distance she looked like a feather effortlessly floating through the air.  Miss Mitchell.
A 1944 B-25 bomber.   She glistened in the sun and a crowd began to gather on the ground below her.  Wartime missions were a much different scenario as sirens blasted and crowds dispersed when she flew over.    On this day, however crowds were scrambling to come closer to get a better look.
She served in the 310th bomb group,  57th bomb wing of the 12th Air Force in North Africa and Italy completing over 130 missions.  In all the missions she flew,  there were no casualties on her watch.  She was equipped with not only bombs, but also seven 50
