U.S. Bank Stadium, which is scheduled to officially open with a soccer match on August 3, appears massive from the pedestrian bridge connecting the light rail to the building’s main plaza.
It could have been a much different scene as a plane crashed and flipped over on a country road outside of Dodge Center Friday morning. Three people escaped serious injury as they essentially walked away unscathed.
The crash happened on County Road 9 just south of 630th Street northeast of Dodge Center. The small plane crashed, flipped over and ended up on its roof in the roadway.
When sheriff’s deputies arrived around 11 a.m., they found the passengers trying to exit the aircraft. Dodge Center Ambulance transported Mary Moe, who was a passenger, to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester with non-life threatening injuries. She reportedly had a broken foot. The pilot, Gary Jones, and another passenger, Jack Winter, walked away unharmed.
