Triton levy increase of 17.3% includes referendum amount
Triton’s school board in December approved the 2026 budget and a 17.3% levy increase, with the total levy amount set at $4,119,820.55.
“The overall percentage increase from last year is 17.3%,” Superintendent Luke Lutterman wrote in an email to the DCI after the meeting. “This equates to a 26.31% increase toward the general fund from the levy when comparing 2025 and 2026. The increase is a direct result of the approved Capital Projects Levy vote held on November 4.”
The General Fund amount to be levied, including the referendum, is $2,796,186.94. Levied for Community Service is $132,066.58, and the Debt Service Levy is $1,191,567.03.
Property owners who want specific information about how this will affect their property tax bills, he said, could get the exact amount from Dodge County.
In other action at the last board meeting of the year, the board authorized students to attend the Wolf Ridge trip in January 2027; approved a sixth grade overnight stay to Eagle Bluff on May 13-15, 2026; approved the certified staff and classified seniority lists for 2025-2026; and approved the updated staff handbook regarding the Minnesota Paid Family Medical Leave law.
The board also approved the 2026-2027 school calendar. The first day of school will be Sept. 3 for grades
