Triton honors students for fine arts, academic achievements

Triton High School last week honored students for fine arts and academic achievements at the annual awards ceremony.
Recipients of the Triple A Award, principal leadership award, academic letters, honors awards and National Honor Society cords were recognized along with a variety of scholarships, student leadership awards, John Philip Sousa Band Award, Louis Armstrong Jazz Award, National School Choral Award and theater awards.
Senior Piper Yankowiak was also officially presented her appointment to the United States Naval Academy by Marine Gunnery Sgt. Vince Reynolds.
The Trip A Award is presented to a Triton High School male and female senior student for their dedication, effort and excellence in academics, athletics and the arts. Zach Otto and Piper Yankowiak were recipients for 2015.
Principal Craig Schlicting also presented the Principal Leadership Award to Alex Finne as a senior who has gone above and beyond in demonstrating leadership among the student body.
Students receiving academic letters were Taylor Abbot, Lindsey Anding, Jacob Blair, Kiara Boeck, Tatyanna Bond, Garrett Dahms, Kaitlyn Erdmann, Brady Essig.

Student Council Leadership Awards went to Alex Finne and Jacob Knutson.
The John Philip Sousa Band Award is given to a senior who has shown outstanding leadership and performance in the Triton High School band. The award is determined by the students in the band.
Recipient of this year’s award was Garrett Franko.
The Louis Armstrong Jazz award is given to a senior who demonstrates superior musicianship, character and individual creativity through participation in the Triton Jazz Band. The award was presented to Zachary Otto.
The National School Choral Awards are given to one senior male and one senior female involved in the high school choir program. The award is voted on by choir members.
Casey Redmond and Cameron Marquardt received the 2015 awards.
The Monday Musicale Award, presented by Monday Musicale, a group that meets monthly in Dodge Center, was given to Jacob Knutson. 
Best Actress in a supporting role was awarded to Kiana Komatsu. Best Actor in a supporting role was a tie between Preston Pflaum and Alex Finne. Best Actor in a featured role was Charles Groll and Best Actress in a featured role was Emmily Wilson.
The Contribution to Theater award went to Matt Hoberg and Taylor Shandorff.
