Time to get out and vote

Yes, the June 9 Referendum for the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva School District is finally upon those in the school district. 
And it is an important vote for the school district, because it will determine what will become of the Ellendale and New Richland facilities in the coming years.
A vote against the referendum could mean the patrons are satisfied with what the buildings are like now. 
A vote yes means they believe in upgrading the different facilities to provide programs for the young people in the school district for years to come.
A month or so ago, I wrote my column about this referendum. Like then, I don’t have a say on what happens with the school district. 
But I will say that after doing stories over the last month it is evident that the school board has made every effort to get as much input from the community members as possible. 
There have been different meetings at both Ellendale and New Richland and according to a few school board members during the last round of interviews last week; they have had individual contacts with their constituents.
This is all good. It is important for people to know what they are voting for. 
But it is also just as important for the people to get out to the polls between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. at Ellendale or New Richland to cast their votes.
We’re talking $14.2 million here. 
We’re talking about the future of the NRHEG students and teachers. 
We’re talking about the future of four communities – New Richland, Ellendale, Hartland and Geneva.
So as you can see, the most important thing that anyone can do in this instance is to get out and vote:  either yeah or nay for this $14.2 million project.
