Tigers outlast Bears
After an 11-15 regular season, the fifth-seeded Byron girls’ basketball team was hoping to spring a minor upset when they took on the fourth-seeded Albert Lea Tigers, but the Tigers pulled away in the second half and win 66-58 on Tuesday, Feb. 26.
Head Coach Jeremy Baumbach said the Bears got off to a good start.
“The Bears played a good first half. The of- fense was working and we
came out with energy and intensity to play, which at times we struggled with this year,” he said.
In addition to playing with good intensity, he said the Bears’ defense played well until one of the Tigers’ shooters got hot.
“For the most partwe keyed on a couple of their players and it was really effective when we switched defense. Early, we lost one of their scorers and she went off for three three-pointers which kept Albert Lea in the contest,” he said.
