Tigers end Triton’s season
The Triton volleyball team had their season come to a close on Oct. 27 when they were swept by the hands of the Stewartville Tigers in a Section 1AA West quarterfinal. Although the result is disappointing, the Cobras showed plenty of grit during the season and show some promise going forward.Against Stewartville, there wasn’t much that went Triton’s way. Stewartville roared out to a big lead in the first set and Triton was never able to recover.“We definitely had some issues with our mental game,” Triton head coach Rebecca Goossens said of the Stewartville game. “We also had some difficulties terminating the ball. We had some decent passes, but our hitters weren’t terminating and had a generally slow approach.” With the loss, it marks the end of Goossen’s first season as head coach. While they didn’t have the amount of success they would have liked, she believes that she can use this experience to turn things around.“We’re looking to improve some of our passing,” Goossens said of her summer approach. “We need to be able to do things with passes that might not be perfect and improve in that aspect. We also need to work on some of the speed and footwork along with reading a defense and being able to adjust.”
