Swift family remembers Sophie

When Michele Swift came home from work on Thursday night to her rural Claremont home her husband Tim gave her some of the worst news imaginable.
Her dog Sophie had been shot and killed by an unknown assailant.
Sophie became apart of the Swift family about 9 years ago when they got her from a puppy mill when she was just 4 months old.
“She was really timid at first,” Michele said.
 
One of the favorite memories that Michele had of Sophie was how loving she was always snuggling with her and the family and sleeping in bed every night.
 
While all of the family dogs often times get to go on car rides with the family Sophie was able to go more places since she was a lap dog and much easier to carry.
 
“She got to go everywhere,” Michele said, “She was the families lap dog,” she added.
 
Every Saturday morning Tim takes the dogs on a drive and to get a treat something that the dogs love doing to spend time with their dad.
 
Another thing that the family remembered about Sophie as well is the fact that she would always be “praying.”
“She would pray for food and everything now were going to pray for justice for Sophie,” Michele said.
 
Ongoing investigation
 
After Tim found the dog he called the Sheriff's Office who came out and investigated. In the Deputies report he stated “The area where the blood spots were located were right in front of his main entry door which faces away from the road. It appeared that someone may have driven into his yard and executed the dog. There were no spin marks and the area had been driven over by myself and Tim prior to discovering the blood spots.”
 
“Tim did not have any idea who could have done this and added that a few years ago they had added an electric perimeter fence.”
 
“I spoke to the farmers that were working their fields in the area and one reported seeing a white SUV drive by that they didn’t recognize, and another reported a black Ford F-350 4 door pickup with a topper drive through the area but neither observed them stop or drive in the yard.”

In one word that's how the family described how they are feeling after the incident.
 
One of the things that is most troubling for the family is that the dogs for many years have enjoyed going outside and running around freely within their perimeter without any troubles until the incident occured.
 
“Someone  came to their home and violated that, its disturbing,” Michele said.
 
In a exclusive video interview with the DCI Michele said that she hopes something like this never happens to anyone else.

At the end of the day the family hopes that whoever is responsible will be found and there will be justice for Sophie.
