Steven "Steve" Rodger Sorenson, 68, Mantorville
Steven “Steve” Rodger Sorenson, known to many as “Sorny,” passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the age of 68, surrounded by the love of his family.
He spent the last nearly 16 years with his fiancée, Kris Johnson, in Mantorville, Minnesota. Steve was the proud father of Tia Malouff (Michael) and Derek Sorenson (Megan), and a devoted grandfather to Max, Peter, and Sonny. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodger and Vivian Sorenson, and his brother Scott, and is survived by his siblings Dan Sorenson (Sandi) and Tami Weitzel (Kevin); Scott’s widow, Julie Sorenson, and her partner, Tim Lenhart; along with many nieces and nephews who adored him.
Steve worked for Firestone as a mechanic and later as a general manager. He had a gentle sense of humor and found joy in the little things, such as sharing a meal with family, spending quality time with friends, or simply enjoying a peaceful evening. He enjoyed the outdoors and found comfort in activities like hunting, fishing, golfing, and listening to music. Steve didn’t need grand gestures to be happy; he found contentment in everyday moments and in the company of those he loved most.
He will be remembered for his kind heart, laid-back spirit, and deep love for his family. He never missed a birthday, concert, or game for his grandsons. Whether he was dressed up for Halloween, firing Nerf bullets in the house, playing catch, or joining a card game, Steve brought laughter and warmth to every moment.
A celebration of Steve’s life will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Faith Lutheran Church, 308 2nd St NW, Dodge Center, MN. Visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., followed by the service at 2:00 p.m.
