Sheriff’s office releases name of Mantorville fire victim

Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose has released the name of the individual who died in a fire this morning at the Chestnut Apartments in Mantorville.
“As of 4:50 p.m. today we have one confirmed fatality from the apartment building fire this morning. Our victim, 68-year-old Cynthia Ferguson, lived in apartment #11. Cause of death is unknown at this time.
“The other victims in this fire were all being treated for various levels of smoke inhalation. It’s our understanding that there are two other tenants in critical condition in Rochester but no further information is available on them. The investigation into the cause of the fire is being conducted by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s office.
“No additional information is expected to be released by our office at this time,” Rose said.
