Senator Sparks battles COVID-19

Minnesota Senator Dan Sparks, DFL-Austin, is one of the latest victims of COVID-19.
Sparks reported on Monday that after experiencing flu-like symptoms, he tested positive for COVID-19 on Oct. 8.
“The week of Oct. 5, I began to feel unwell and experience flu-like symptoms leading to my decision to voluntarily quarantine,” Sparks said. “After consulting with my doctor, I was tested for COVID-19 on Oct. 8.”
Sparks began a two-week quarantine per CDC guidelines. He has not attended any in-person events during this period. “Although I cannot attend in person, I have continued to participate remotely in legislative business and work on the issues that face our district,” he said.
In early October, Sparks reported that his wife had come down with COVID-19.
“I want to thank everyone for their well wishes and ask that Minnesotans continue to take COVID-19 seriously,” Sparks said.
Sparks represents District 27, which includes Mower and Freeborn counties as well as the City of Blooming Prairie and southern Dodge County and the City of Hayfield.
