Report: Man referenced Madeline Kingsbury in threats

A former Dodge Center man made his initial appearance last week in Dodge County District Court, where he was charged with felony terroristic threats.
Michael Allen Hander, 50, now of St. Charles, was conditionally released without bail and is due back in court Jan. 29.
The case began Nov. 8, when law enforcement was sent to a home on Main Street in Dodge Center for a report of an intruder in the residence. The caller was Hander, who gave police the name of the man he said was in the house, as well as a description of the man’s car.
When a deputy arrived, he found Hander had shut himself in the garage and was described as “irate” and “very upset.”
Hander told the deputy he and a woman own the home, and both live there, but are not in a romantic relationship. The co-owner is dating the man Hander identified as the intruder — who was there to spend the day with the woman.
According to the criminal complaint, Hander admitted that upset him, so he called authorities and reported the man as an intruder.
The deputy’s notes say Hander alluded to hurting himself or others several times, and reportedly told the officer if the woman returned to the residence “one of them would end up being dead.”
Hander went on to say that circumstances “like this” are how things like Madeline Kingsbury happen, court documents say.
Kingsbury, of Winona, went missing in March 2023 after she and Adam Fravel dropped their children off at daycare. She was never seen again.
Fravel denied any involvement in her disappearance, but was arrested and charged June 9, 2023, two days after her remains were found near his family’s property in Mabel.
Fravel was convicted earlier this month of four counts of murder, including first-degree murder. He will be sentenced Dec. 17.
Hander was allowed to leave for work the day he made the complaint but was arrested at his job later that day.
The woman and the victim said they were unaware Hander was in the house that day.
The man tried to leave when Hander became intimidating, the complaint says, but Hander lay down behind the victim’s vehicle — only getting up to call law enforcement.
