Release the Epstein Files and the Flying Monkeys

(Brad Trom’s poem, “Release the Epstein Files and the Flying Monkeys,” utilizes a surrealist lens to explore the tension between public demand for transparency and the absurdity of modern political discourse. Set against the backdrop of a “marble white” dome—evocative of the U.S. Capitol—the narrative shifts from a traditional protest scene into a bizarre, Oz-inspired vision where “flying monkeys” in grey suits carry the weight of the message. This juxtaposition of mythology and modern strife suggests that the quest for truth in the Epstein case has entered a realm of the fantastic, where the lines between reality, conspiracy, and justice are blurred. Ultimately, the poem captures a sense of collective urgency and skepticism, posing a final, haunting question about the unpredictable consequences of finally unsealing long-held secrets.)
Beneath the dome of marble white,
The shadows stir in evening light.
A crowd assembled, voices loud,
Beneath a heavy, pulsing cloud.
The banners rise with one demand,
Echoing across the land:
“Unseal the truth, unlock the gates,
Before the justice system waits.”
But look above the frantic scene,
Where logic fades into the dream.
With feathered wings and suits of grey,
The flying monkeys lead the way.
They hoist the message high and bold,
To break the secrets firmly held,
Suspended in the twilight air,
A surreal sight for all to stare.
The officers in steady line,
Watch the skies for any sign,
While protestors with signs held high,
Point their fingers to the sky.
A blend of myth and modern strife,
Demanding back the light of life,
For when the secret files take wing,
Who knows what truth
the wind will bring?
