OMC donates $50,000 to support Semcac’s mission

Semcac has announce a donation of $50,000 from Olmsted Medical Center (OMC). This significant contribution will directly support Semcac’s mission to empower and advocate for individuals and families, enhancing self-sufficiency by maximizing community resources.
The funds will focus on addressing food insecurity in southeastern Minnesota, a growing challenge that impacts many in the region. According to Semcac’s 2024 Community Needs Assessment, 52% of respondents reported struggling to meet basic food needs.
“This donation will help us expand access to vital resources, create sustainable solutions, and collaborate with community partners to uplift individuals and families in need,” said Jennifer Hengel, Executive Director of Semcac. “We are deeply grateful to Olmsted Medical Center and its staff for their outstanding support.”
Semcac is a Community Action Agency that serves Dodge, Fillmore, Freeborn, Houston, Mower, Steele and Winona counties with additional programs in Goodhue, Olmsted, Rice and Wabasha counties.
Semcac provides critical services to the region, including:
food shelves for individuals and families in need
Senior Dining and Meals on Wheels programs to support older adults
outreach initiatives encouraging households to apply for food assistance programs.
OMC’s donation will strengthen these programs and further the shared goal of addressing critical challenges faced by the community.
