Oktoberfest coming to Kasson Sept. 27

It’s almost time for the 2025 Oktoberfest in Kasson, sponsored by the Kasson Chamber of Commerce.
The event is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 27, and this year, there is something new. Open containers will be allowed from 1 to 4 p.m. within the clearly marked event area.
Alcohol must be purchased at Tammy’s Place or the Kasson Legion. There is no outside alcohol permitted. Signs will designate where open containers are allowed.
In a social media post, the Kasson Chamber of Commerce urged attendees to support the local bars, and “Enjoy your favorite drinks as you stroll, dance, and celebrate — responsibly, of course!”
Other events for the day will include the Wurst Dog Derby at 1 p.m. at Zumbro Valley Golf course. Come and watch the little dachshunds race. There is also a pet costume contest and Derby Hat contest.
The Wurst Derby is sponsored by Carriage House, Chocolate Shoppe, Czaplewski Funeral Home, Home Improvement Professionals at KMTelecom.
Family activities and a vendor market get underway at 1:30 p.m. downtown.
At 2 p.m., there will be Bingo with kids’ prizes, sponsored by Prairie Meadows at The Studio. The Hot Dog Drop is scheduled for 3 p.m., sponsored by the Fire Department, MBT Bank and Sysco.
At 4 p.m., there will be a Beer and Root Beer Mile, sponsored by You Knead Therapy, The Main Alternative and Kasson American Legion.
The sauerkraut contest gets under way at The Main Alternative, sponsored by Melt Away Massage.
There will be music on the patio at the American Legion at 6 p.m.
The Pub Crawl will be from 12 to 8 p.m. at Hidden Pines, Hubbell House, Kasson American Legion, Tammy’s Place and Zumbro Valley Golf Course.
The vendor fair includes a variety of activities sponsored by local businesses including llamas and obstacle course, rootbeer floats, tire flipping, face painting, signed Tug and Tuke books, a brass quartet, color contests and appearances by Bigfoot and Rookie the clown.
