Nelson encourages constituents to visit MyOldMeds.com for safe drug disposaL
MyOldMeds.com is a free online resource listing over 22,000 convenient and safe medication disposal locations across Minnesota and all 50 states. Hosted by the Pharmaceutical Product Stewardship Work Group (PPSWG), the website provides a valuable public health service by connecting residents with nearby options to properly dispose of unused or expired prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
Safely disposing of unnecessary medications keeps our homes and communities safe and healthy. I applaud the recent update to MyOldMeds.com, making it even easier for Minnesotans to find convenient disposal sites close to home. Proper drug disposal prevents misuse and protects our environment — it’s a commonsense measure everyone can take for the public good.
After completing a comprehensive update on July 13, 2023, MyOldMeds.com carefully verifies all listed disposal locations in Minnesota to provide the most up-to-date and accurate information. In addition to the website, the PPSWG provides a Public Service Announcement and fact sheet with more details that can be shared throughout local communities.
I encourages all Minnesotans to visit MyOldMeds.com and take two minutes to find the closest, safest option to dispose of unneeded medications. This simple act of proper drug disposal can make a real difference in keeping substances out of the wrong hands and our environment clean. I urge all residents to take advantage of this free resource.
