Robert Duane Nelson, 72, Kasson, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at Mayo Clinic St. Marys campus.
Bob was born Sept. 13, 1948 in Rochester to Howard and Fern (Frost) Nelson. He was a graduate of Kasson-Mantorville High School and went on to become a certified painter. On April 22, 1967, at Byron Methodist Church, Bob Married Loah King.
He owned and operated Bob Nelson Painting. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending Kasson-Mantorville High School sporting events. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings and loved to watch stock car races along with NASCAR.
Bob was a deacon and very active member of First Baptist Church of Kasson. He was a strong man of faith and God’s servant, always visiting and helping those in need. Bob was a dependable and honest man.
Along with his painting business, Bob also loved working on this hobby farm. Above all, Bob loved his family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Loah Nelson; daughters, Rebel (Max) Gregor of Yakima, Wash., Hollee (Matt) Grant of Byron; seven grandchildren, Drew, Derrik, Ryan, Nate, Alysha and Elli and two great-grandchildren, Bailey and Carson. Bob is also survived by his sister, Donna Hardiman; brother, Richard (Mary) Nelson and sister-in-law, Joan Nelson. Bob was preceded in death by his brother, Jim, and by his parents.
Funeral services were held Oct. 19, 2020, at First Baptist Church of Kasson with Rev. John Todor officiating. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Douglas, Minn. Arrangements were by Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes of Rochester.
