James Duane Olson, 80, Hayfield

James Duane Olson, 80, passed away peacefully on Dec. 2, 2020 in Hayfield.
James was born on Sept. 9, 1940, the son of Roy and Emma (Ripka) Olson in Owatonna and attended country schools.
Jim was united in marriage to Carol Eull on March 2, 1958 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson. He was formerly of Dodge Center and lived in Hayfield most of his life. He helped farmers throughout his life and worked for the Gas Pipeline Companies for a number of years. He also worked at Seneca Foods in the Field Division. He worked with Mike’s Lawn Service during the winter months.
Jim enjoyed his friends, was smart witted, loved his farm cats, yard work, gardening and road trips in the countryside.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Theresa (Brian) Nolte, Racine, MN; and special friend and caretaker, Donna Shellum, Hayfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Emma; wife, Carol and sister, Darlene Klernert.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield. There will be a private family service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating.
