Christmas 2020 tree décor vs. the dinosaur station wagon

Even during a pandemic creative minds are at work to develop items for the 2020 Christmas tree. These are not your typical stars, wreaths or a partridge in a pear tree.
Nope. These are unique to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s Santa ornament is wearing a facemask. That’s right. Jolly Old Saint Nick is wearing a blue facemask fashioned after the disposable ones on sale everywhere.
It’s for sale for a manufacturer’s suggest retail price of a mere $21.99. Before anyone is tempted to go online to order the Jolly Saint, it should be noted that he is sold out.
Not to be outdone, some clever creative genius decided that a hand sanitizer ornament might give Santa a run for his money. At only $19.99 MSRP the infamous 99.9 percent alcohol ornament is also sold out. Wait, what? Who’s buying this stuff up in October?
Okay, there might be other COVID-19 tree ornaments still available for the memory collector. Is the 2020 toilet paper ornament still available for only $14.99 MSRP? Afraid not. It’s sold out, but like the others, if you find these tree ornaments online, have the seller notify you when each item is available, or add to the wish list.
Humor, whether targeting tree ornaments or, in general, tends to lighten the spirit when a virus attacks.
Consider this, if all else fails, there are T-shirts advertised online that include facemasks with a message. For example: “This mask is as useless as our governor.” There’s also an American flag mask with the blue stripe that is supportive of our police officers.
American ingenuity never takes a break, even during a pandemic.
But wait, there’s more.
The station wagon (a.k.a. the SUV without 4-wheel drive) is going away. So, if you are thinking of buying a wagon for a family Christmas gift, you’d better hurry.
The Jaguar XF Sportbrake is going to be discontinued in 2012.
If you’re more of an Audi person, the A4, at a mere $45,645 and the A6 at $66,945 will still be available after the New Year. Just in case one was thinking of an RS6, the Avant 591 HP super wagon, with a top speed of 189 mph, at a starting price of $110,045 will be available for those who want to challenge Minnesota Highway Patrol cruisers.
However, for the discriminating station wagon buyer, one still has the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso with only 2-doors and a V-12 for a measly $263,750 (starting price).
If one is on a tight budget, there is always the Mercedes-Benz E-Class that is offered at $68,595 for the brawny model or a sporty wagon for $112,745 with the AMG E 63 S.
Of course for the more practical station wagon buyers there’s always a MINI Clubman, the Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo, Subaru Outback, or the Volvo V60/V90.
