Food Shelf still meeting needs of residents

Semcac’s Dodge County Food Shelf in Kassonis continuing to meetthe needs of residents although the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in some changes to its’ distribution operations.
Food is being distributed as usual on Tuesdays and Thursdays,said Food Shelf Director Amber Duncan although pre-packaged containers of food are now delivered to vehicles as clients are not being allowed inside the building to keep the social distancing limits in place.

Clients are also asked to call ahead to let Food Shelf workers know when they will be coming to make the process run more smoothly, Duncan said.
Duncan said that rather than ordering specific food items from Channel One, they are now receiv- ing prepackaged boxes of food from that organiza- tion. The local food shelf is adding additional items to the boxes that local residents are receiving.
The amount of food a client receives is, as always, based on the size of family. That has been 14 pounds of food per person, she said.
