Breaking News: Blooming Prairie man arrested for Las Vegas murder
Rice County authorities have arrested a Blooming Prairie man in connection with a fatal shooting of a Nevada man last week.
On Wednesday night, sheriff’s deputies took Mark Doocy, 60, into custody at the Flying J Truck Stop along Interstate 35 in Rice County. Doocy kept officers waiting for more than four hours until a chemical irritant was used on him twice before he was captured, Sheriff Troy Dunn said.
Doocy was taken to a Twin Cities hospital for treatment while remaining in custody in lieu of $1 million bail as authorities in Nevada seek his return.
Authorities accuse Doocy of killing a man in his 40s in the road near a Love’s Travel Stop along Interstate 15 northeast of Las Vegas, Dunn said. Police at the scene told reporters that Doocy was employed by the victim and his wife to do odd jobs.
The identity of the man killed has yet to be released.
