K-M seeks more staff diversity

The Kasson School
Board honored its stu- dents of the month, heard from student school board representatives, and discussed the World’s Best Workforce Report during its monthly meeting on Monday, Jan. 27.
Teaching and Learn- ing Director Kelly Braun presented on how Kas- son-Mantorville school district stacks up to the
2018-2019 World’s Best
Workforce Report.
She reported that nearly
98.5% of K-M’s licensed staff are Caucasian, while roughly 91% of students are Caucasian.
She asked, “What are
we doing to make sure our staff is more reflective of our student body?”
She explained that it’s important to have a diverse staff so that stu- dents have someone that feel connected with.
